Version: [draft 0.1] · Effective: [date]
This Addendum applies whenever you use JamiezShipz, a service of Jamiez LLC ("Jamiez," "we," "us"). It adds to the Jamiez Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If this Addendum and the Terms conflict about a JamiezShipz service, this Addendum controls for that service. The Terms govern everything else, including disclaimers and limitation of liability (Terms §13), indemnity (§14), dispute resolution and arbitration (§15), and privacy. Capitalized words not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms.
1. What JamiezShipz does
1.1 JamiezShipz may include, as you request and we confirm:
- (a) collecting e-commerce returns that carry a retailer QR code or prepaid label, and delivering them to the retailer's designated drop-off;
- (b) packing outgoing parcels, buying postage for you, and delivering them to the carrier;
- (c) collecting parcels that already carry your own label and delivering them to the carrier;
- (d) while you are away, collecting deliveries left outside your home and placing them inside the areas you authorize;
- (e) delivering sealed documents to a local recipient you name;
- (f) introducing you to an independent mobile notary.
1.2 What we are not. Jamiez is not a carrier or freight forwarder. Carriers such as USPS and FedEx transport your parcels. We do not store your property anywhere except inside your own home. JamiezShipz is not an emergency or same-day service. Route days are our usual schedule, not guaranteed times.
1.3 We act as your agent in handing parcels to carriers and retailers. From the moment a carrier accepts a parcel, the carrier's own terms govern it, including the carrier's liability limits and claims process.
2. Custody
2.1 Our responsibility for an item begins when a Jamiez team member collects it and takes an intake photo.
2.2 It ends at the earliest of:
- (a) acceptance by the carrier or retail drop-off location, shown by a scan, receipt, or acceptance of a shipment manifest;
- (b) placement inside your home, shown by a placement photo; or
- (c) hand-off of a document to the recipient you named.
2.3 After our responsibility ends, we are not responsible for carrier delays, loss, damage, misrouting, or customs holds. We will help you start a claim with the carrier.
2.4 We post proof of hand-off (tracking number and receipt or acceptance scan) to your account within [2] hours of hand-off.
3. Photos and condition
3.1 We photograph items when we collect them, after we pack them, and at hand-off or placement. Those photos are handled as described in Terms §9.
3.2 We may decline any item that shows existing damage, leaks, or open seams, or that is packed in a way we believe will not survive shipping. If we do, we photograph the item and leave it with you.
4. Prices and payment
4.1 Current prices are on the JamiezShipz price list at [jamiezshipz.com/pricing]. The price list is version-stamped and forms part of this Addendum. Jamiez members receive pickup, packing labor, and return handling at no charge, and pay for postage and packing materials.
4.2 Postage. We charge the carrier's published price for the service you choose. For USPS that is the Post Office retail price. For FedEx it is FedEx's published list price. Jamiez buys postage at commercial rates below these published prices and keeps the difference as part of its compensation.
4.3 Materials. Members pay Jamiez's cost for boxes and packing materials plus [25%]. Other customers pay the listed packing price for the box used, which includes labor.
4.4 Card on file. At booking you authorize us to save your payment card and to charge it after we weigh and measure your parcels. If the final price is higher than the estimate you saw at booking, we will ask you to approve it before we buy the label.
4.5 No subscription. JamiezShipz is charged per pickup. Nothing renews automatically.
4.6 Invalid return codes. If a retailer or drop-off location rejects a return because its QR code or label is invalid or expired, we will bring the item back to you and charge a [$10] re-routing fee.
5. Loss or damage while we have your item
5.1 If an item is lost or damaged while it is our responsibility under Section 2, our liability is limited to the lesser of the item's repair cost or its actual cash value, up to [$100] per package.
5.2 Higher-value shipments. For outgoing parcels, you may ask us to buy the carrier's own declared-value or shipment coverage, at the carrier's price, where the carrier offers it. The carrier or its provider supplies that coverage under its own terms. Jamiez does not sell insurance.
5.3 We do not accept items with a declared value over [$2,500] without our written approval in advance.
5.4 Claims follow Terms §10: tell us in writing within [7] days, with photographs.
6. Prohibited items
6.1 You confirm that nothing you give us contains hazardous materials or anything prohibited by the carrier, by federal law (including 49 CFR), or by California law.
6.2 We never accept:
- firearms, ammunition, explosives, or fireworks;
- loose lithium batteries, or damaged or recalled batteries;
- flammable liquids, aerosols, compressed gases, or corrosive chemicals;
- controlled substances, cannabis or THC products, or prescription drugs [unless the carrier's rules and our written approval allow];
- biological specimens, infectious substances, or human or animal remains;
- cash, negotiable instruments, bullion, or loose precious stones;
- counterfeit or stolen goods; or
- live animals or perishable food.
6.3 We may decline any item, and may inspect an unsealed item, if we reasonably suspect a hazard or a violation of carrier rules or law.
6.4 You will indemnify Jamiez, as provided in Terms §14, for claims, fines, and costs caused by a prohibited or hazardous item you gave us.
7. Packing
7.1 If you pack and seal a parcel yourself, you are responsible for how it is packed. We are not responsible for contents that shift or break inside a box you packed.
7.2 When we pack, we use new boxes and standard materials. Our responsibility remains subject to Section 5.
7.3 Items over [50] lb, or larger than our largest box, are quoted separately or declined.
8. Returns
8.1 We are not a party to your purchase. Refunds, restocking fees, and store credit are between you and the retailer.
8.2 You are responsible for giving us active, correct return codes and labels (see 4.6).
9. Holding deliveries while you are away
9.1 You authorize Jamiez team members to collect deliveries from outside your home, on the days you choose, and to place them inside the areas you name, such as your garage or entry.
9.2 Keys, codes, and lockboxes are handled under Terms §5.4. You may change or revoke access at any time.
9.3 We photograph each placement. We do not open packages, and we do not enter any area you have not authorized.
9.4 We do not take deliveries away to store them.
10. Document delivery
10.1 We deliver sealed documents locally to the recipient you name. We do not read, review, or advise on documents.
10.2 We do not guarantee delivery by a deadline. Do not use JamiezShipz where a missed filing, recording, or closing deadline would harm you.
11. Notary introductions
11.1 A notary we introduce is an independent Preferred Provider under Terms §7. The notary is not a Jamiez employee or agent.
11.2 The notary bills you directly under its own terms. California law caps notarial fees at $15 per signature (Government Code §8211). The notary sets its travel fee and agrees it with you in advance.
11.3 Jamiez is not responsible for notarial acts.
12. Scheduling and cancellation
12.1 Route days are our usual schedule for your area, not guaranteed times. We text you a time window before your pickup.
12.2 You may cancel or reschedule a pickup at no charge until [time] the day before. [Late-cancellation terms.]
